Still My Favorite

I hardly ever, never reread books, even my favorites. I always feel propelled to move forward because I am obsessed with the idea that there are just so many amazing books out there. And I am certain that I will die without having read even one tiny fraction of the things I'd like to read in my life. But for Grapes of Wrath I'm happy to make an exception (that and maybe Twilight and, ahem, Breaking Dawn). As I reread GOW I am resavoring and rediscovering everything--each detail, each minute observation, each heartbreaking tale within it--anew. And it's still my favorite. I am amazed by this book. Absolutely (unconditionally and irrevocably) in love with it (and Edward, too. OMG, did I just say that out loud?).

I am not re-reading GOW, but it definitely is up there on my list of favorites already. It is such a real, heart-wrenching story. I want to write my grandparents, who lived through the Dust Bowl and the Depression and ask them to write their memories so we don't lose such an important part of our history! I am sad that my grandmother Boyle, who grew up on a Kansas farm, is no longer around to ask.

Theresa, you crack me up about Edward! :) So Jade and I had to set up a meeting in a Safeway parking lot this afternoon so I could get book 3! I didn't know if I could survive one night finishing New Moon without having Eclipse in my hands!!

Theresa - I really hope you can make tea. Can we help make sure you can make it? Are you without a sitter?

Is everyone else in? I'm going to send an email in a second, so we can check.

I loved this post. mmm...Edward. (puh-lease just make me grow up.) (no, don't. it's too much fun to regress, and flutter, and just have fun!)

Kristen, I'd love to hear what you hear from your relatives. Isn't it amazing what our grandparents lived through? (My Grandma saved ketchup packets and reused tinfoil many, many times, probably due to her "lack of" during the Great Depression.) And, Jade, to your point, what people in our time are living through too. We've got another big where-were-you-when moment coming up on Tuesday.

Can't wait to see you all!
